If you would like to have a go at Clout archery the read on. We will be holding a Clout Competition on Sunday 28th September with a 10:00 for 10:30 start and circa 17:00 finish.
We will be holding two practice days on Saturday 20th and 27th September commencing at 13:30. Note that we will be preparing the field and setting up on on the morning of the 20th so no guarantees for a prompt start to the practice that day!
Our thanks go the Martin Dixon’s brother-in-law for use of the field for this event.
What is it?
Please read the following document (sourced from the Sussex Archery website) as it gives a very good introduction to all the in’s and out’s of Clout. Please be sure to read this document before coming to the shoot.
Where is it
The field (outlined in red below) is located on Nether Moor Road, HD4 7BX. The what3words are ///oddly.panic.drain. Please approach the field from Blackmoorfoot Road NOT from the Netherton end of the road. There is plenty of roadside parking indicated in blue on the map.

When is it?
The plan is to have a couple of practice sessions on the afternoons of 20th and 27th September from 1:30pm till 4pm (or later if needed).
The shoot itself will be held on Sunday 28th September. Please arrive at 10.00am for a 10:30pm start. We will shoot 3 dozen in the morning and another 3 dozen in the afternoon, taking a 2 hour lunch break in between (circa 12 till 2). Note: there are no toilet facilities at the field hence the long lunch break allowing time to go home, visit Morrisons or dash back the Pavillion for a comfort break! We anticipate the shoot to run until 5pm
How much will it cost?
The will be a £10 fee per archer. This is to cover the expenses for an instructor and to provide a gift to the farmer. Please pay to the normal club account or bring cash on the Sunday.
What do I need to bring?
All the usual stuff ! Your bow, arrows, wet weather gear, sturdy shoes, etc….
Will I get instruction?
Some of you have already attended a session at the club given by Pete Gregory. Please try to attend at least one of the two Saturday practice sessions when a number of coaches and other experience archers will be on hand to assist. Having said this, it is important you read the document detailed above prior to attending any of the sessions.
Who can enter?
Anyone, any bow style.
