Some Reminders
In the months running up to Christmas (yes I’ve used the “C” word and it’s only October) we have a number of events taking place.
Sunday 6th Oct : 13:00 for 13:30 – Grand Prix Awards – Fun Shoot
Alan Marriott will, no doubt, have some dastardly plan for this fun shoot, and you have to question his use of the word fun, well…. some people enjoy it!! Targets at short distances so suitable for ALL archers regardless of age or experience.
Sunday 20th Oct :13:00 for 13:30 – Traditional Bow Shoot
The main shoot is as Western round and must be shot with wooden arrows and there must be no aids on the bow (i.e. no rubber bands, sight, stabilisers, clickers etc, etc). Speak to one of the committee if you would like to borrow some wooden arrows.
For those of you that don’t want to join in these shenanigans there will be a Novice class for all bow styles (including all the nik naks) and you may choose a western round from as little as 30 yds.
Saturday 2nd Nov : 17:45 & 18:45 – Frostbite Shoot + Food + Bonfire
This is our annual damp squib (yes – it usualy rains on us!) where we rush through a Frostbite round in order to get some warm food and drink and then try to dry off by the bonfire. All the family welcome, £5pp (under 10’s free). Please register to attend.
Thursday 21st Nov : 18:00 for 18:30 – Indoor Novice Competition
Anyone with less than 18mths shooting experience is welcome to join our annual Indoor Novice competition. Because of the restriction on the number of archers on the shooting line would you please register here if you think you will be attending as we may have to put on a number of events/sessions if overwhelmed by numbers.
Sunday 24th Nov : 10:00 for 10:30 – Thanksgiving Shoot
Another annual favourite. Shooting at Turkey faces set at random distances (usually less than 30m), this fun shoot is suitable for archers of all ages and ability. The shoot is usually finshed by luchtime and a cup of soup (with bread and pumpkin pie) provided to warm you up before heading home (or indoors for a Portsmouth if you are really keen!).
Saturday 7th Dec : 19:00 – Xmas Party
A 3-course meal with live singer at the Huntsman Inn on the Greenfield Road. We need to confirm our booking by the end of the month so please get your £10 deposit paid to the club and let Paul or John know you will be joining us
Sunday 22nd Dec : 13:00 for 13:15 – Xmas Fun Shoot
Silly target faces, loads and loads of prizes and even more mince pies and sweets. Get this date in your diary.
