Our courses are held at various times throught the year, so there should be a date that is suitable for all.
The Saturday sessions consist of 3 Consecutive Saturdays each day consisting of 2 lessons per session – Sessions start at 11:30and aim to finish at 15:00 (Break for lunch – Tea/Coffee provided but bring a packed lunch)
The Tuesday and Thursday sessions both consist of 6 consecutive Tuesdays /Thursdays consisting of 1 lesson per session, times are from 19:00pm to 20:45pm
In order to obtain the beginners certificate you must attend a minimum of 5 sessions. All the necessary equipment is provided.
It’s not advisable to wear ‘dangerly’ jewellery and if you have long hair its good practice to have it tied back. This is to avoid the chances of the bow string snagging.
You should wear sensible footwear as the shooting field can be wet and uneven in places.
The beginner’s courses will cover all the basics of archery including Stance / Posture / hand positioning as well as the setup of equipment including bows and bosses. Archery can be a dangerous sport so the course also pays attention to range and personal safety aspects.
During the course there will also be a bow demonstration giving you an opportunity see and learn about different styles of bows.
You must complete a minimum of 5 of the 6 lessons available to qualify for a certificate.
Once you have completed the beginner’s course you will be issued with a certificate of achievement. You will also be able to become a member of the club.
Once an archer has finished their beginner’s course and has decided that they would like to join the club we have setup a programme of free coaching “help” sessions(member’s only), these sessions are Saturday mornings from 9:00 am till 13:00 (ish). There will be at least one coach at the field in order to help with setting up equipment, refreshing safety protocols and basic shooting techniques. Other times and dates are available through arrangement.
